Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Atlanta, or Kennesaw, GA; Austin, TX; or Birmingham, AL offices. The role will apply academic knowledge to real-world site characterization and design on projects involving landfills, dams, and geotechnical instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering (required)
• Advanced degree in geotechnical fields (preferred)
• Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting (preferred)
• Research in geotechnical engineering, geomechanics, numerical modeling, earthquake engineering, foundations, dams/levees (preferred)
• Experience with geotechnical software: AutoCAD, Slope/W, PLAXIS (preferred)
• Occasional field work and overnight travel (required)
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug/background testing (required)
• Valid U.S. driver's license and driving record (strongly preferred)

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical field investigations
• Monitor heavy civil construction projects
• Perform and review engineering calculations
• Earthquake engineering
• Landfill design and permitting
• Dam and levee evaluations
• Develop construction documents
• Write and review engineering reports
• Drive vehicles to project sites as needed
