The role requires a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering, Pr.Eng. registration, and 9+ years of mining-focused geotechnical experience. Proficiency with PLAXIS, GEOSTUDIO, and Slide is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA required.
• 9+ years of geotechnical experience, with mining focus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and interpret geotechnical site investigations for mining and civil projects.
• Conduct detailed analyses of soil and rock mechanics, including slope stability, seepage, and foundation settlement.
• Design foundations, earthworks, retaining structures, and mine waste facilities.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports and provide guidance during construction.
• Utilize geotechnical software for modeling and analysis (PLAXIS, GEOSTUDIO, Slide).
• Collaborate with mining engineers, geologists, and other disciplines to integrate geotechnical considerations into designs.
• Ensure designs comply with safety regulations and environmental standards for Free State mining sector.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines; mentor junior staff.
