Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in Detroit/Ann Arbor is seeking an Early-Career Geotechnical Professional to join our geostructural and remediation team. The role offers hands-on field investigations, lab interpretation, and design support for landfills, dams, and related projects.

You will receive mentorship while taking on increasing technical and leadership responsibilities, within a globally oriented engineering firm known for technical leadership and client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (required).
• Advanced degree in the same (preferred).
• Internship or work experience in engineering consulting (required).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Slope/W, Slide2, Settle3D or similar software (preferred).
• Regular fieldwork and overnight travel (required).
• Written and verbal communication and presentation skills (required).
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug/background checks (required).
• Valid U.S. driver's license with satisfactory driving record (required).

Responsibilities

• Site characterization via geotechnical field investigations and lab interpretation.
• Monitor heavy civil construction projects.
• Perform and review engineering calculations.
• Design and repairs of dams and appurtenant structures.
• Assess dam and levee safety risk and support risk-informed decisions.
• Landfill design and remediation work.
• Support regulatory compliance for coal ash units.
• Design and maintain geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems.
• Prepare and review engineering reports; travel to client/project sites as needed.
