Dewberry’s Bloomfield, NJ office seeks an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with 3+ years in highway, bridge and transit projects. You’ll lead field programs, analyze soils, and deliver design recommendations with a focus on subsurface exploration and foundation design for complex sites.

You’ll collaborate across senior/junior staff, be adept with geotechnical software, and drive quality through inspections and reports, with opportunities for advancement into project engineer roles.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering (MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred or in progress).
• 3–5 years of diverse geotechnical experience including transportation projects (NJDOT/NJ Turnpike or county agencies).
• PE preferred; FE is required.
• Experience in building and bridge foundations, pavement design, slope stability, and ground improvement.
• Familiarity with geotechnical design software including gINT/OpenGround, Ensoft LPILE/GROUP, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SLIDE2, GRLWEAP, ct-Shoring.

Responsabilités

• Provide field oversight of subsurface investigation programs (borings, soil/rock classification, in-situ testing).
• Interpret laboratory results to determine design parameters.
• Develop oversight of geotechnical instrumentation programs and data collection.
• Evaluate and select foundation solutions for complex sites.
• Perform geotechnical design calculations for transportation projects (slopes, settlements, foundations).
• Prepare Subsurface Exploration and Soils Lab Testing Program submissions and related reports.
• Review contractor design and construction submittals.
• On-site observations of construction activities including pile driving and instrumentation.
• Collaborate with junior and senior staff to accomplish goals.
