Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Geotechnical Engineer to support energy projects based in Paarl. You will assess ground conditions, manage investigations, and provide expert advice to ensure stable energy infrastructure such as wind, solar, and transmission lines.

Collaborate with civil engineers, project managers, and environmental consultants to mitigate soil and rock risks. The role offers hybrid work and opportunities to impact Western Cape energy developments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialization.
Minimum 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with energy projects.
Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
Proficiency in geotechnical software (GeoStudio, Plaxis).
Experience in managing geotechnical site investigations and interpreting field data.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
Analyze soil/rock data to determine foundation design parameters for energy structures.
Prepare geotechnical reports with findings, recommendations, and risk assessments.
Provide expert consultation on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for energy projects.
Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure geotechnical requirements are met.
Review and approve geotechnical designs and construction methodologies for projects in the Paarl area and beyond.
