Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with geotechnical specialization.

Minimum 5 years of geotechnical investigations and design experience.
Proficiency with PLAXIS, GeoStudio or similar software.
Strong knowledge of soil/rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
Excellent report writing and data interpretation skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Welkom , contributing to the foundation design and earthworks aspects of major infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for analyzing soil and rock mechanics, assessing site conditions, and providing expert recommendations to ensure the stability and safety of structures. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to address challenges related to ground conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of geotechnical principles and a passion for delivering robust, site-specific engineering solutions within the Free State region. This is a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of foundational elements for critical developments.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing of soils and rock.
Perform detailed analysis of soil mechanics, slope stability, and foundation design for various structures.
Develop geotechnical reports outlining findings, interpretations, and practical recommendations for earthworks and foundation design.
Collaborate with structural engineers and project managers to integrate geotechnical recommendations into overall project plans.
Oversee geotechnical aspects during the construction phase, including site supervision and quality control of earthworks and foundation installation.
Utilise specialised geotechnical software for modeling and analysis.

Requirements
