Job summary

WSB is seeking a full-time field assistant to support geotechnical drilling projects in our Minnesota area. You will assist drillers with auger handling, soil sampling, rock coring, and backfilling, while preparing equipment and maintaining detailed field logs.

The role requires outdoor work, some travel, and potential overtime or overnight stays. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to obtain a DOT health card within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform light to moderate equipment maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; DOT health card within 30 days.
• OSHA Hazmat, CPR, or First Aid certifications preferred (training available).
• Comfort working outdoors in all weather; ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist driller in geotechnical drilling operations including auger handling, soil sampling, rock coring, and backfilling.
• Prepare and mobilize equipment for daily projects and ensure tools/materials are secured.
• Maintain field logs and handle soil samples according to requirements.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of drill rigs and related equipment.
• Travel to project sites with overnight stays; overtime/weekend work may be required.
• Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets and project documentation.
