Accelera in Colorado is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to support field investigation projects with safe, efficient drilling operations. The role involves soil sampling, rig operation, and supervising a drilling crew on outdoor sites across varying conditions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with drill rigs, soil sampling methods, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. Willingness to travel and work OT is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate geotechnical drilling rigs in compliance with project specs.
• Perform soil sampling (split-spoon, Shelby tube).
• Supervise and train drilling assistants for safety and productivity.
• Interpret boring layouts and technical instructions.
• Maintain drilling equipment and perform minor repairs.
• Troubleshoot field equipment to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate field logs and documentation.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe jobsite in varying conditions.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to support field investigation projects through safe and efficient drilling operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in soil sampling, rig operation, and crew supervision, with a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate geotechnical drilling rigs in compliance with project specifications and industry standards
• Perform soil sampling using techniques such as split-spoon sampling and Shelby tube (thin-wall) sampling
• Supervise, train, and guide drilling assistants to ensure productivity and safety
• Interpret project plans, boring layouts, and technical instructions
• Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on drilling equipment (hydraulics, rotary heads, water swivels, etc.)
• Troubleshoot equipment issues in the field to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate field logs and documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite in varying environmental conditions

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of geotechnical drilling experience
• Strong knowledge of soil sampling methods and field testing procedures
• Hands-on experience with drill rig maintenance and troubleshooting
• Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass drug screening, physical exam, and background check
• Strong communication and basic math skills
• Willingness to travel, work overtime, weekends, and flexible hours

Preferred Skills

• Experience with hollow stem auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, or CPT methods
• OSHA safety training (OSHA 10/30 preferred)
• Knowledge of geotechnical logging and reporting standards
