Job summary

UES, Inc. is seeking a Driller's Assistant to support geotechnical drilling operations, soil testing, well installations, and site investigations. You will operate and maintain drilling equipment, assist the drill crew chief, and ensure safety and compliance across projects.

Ideal candidates will be mechanically inclined, safety‑minded, and able to work outdoors in varying conditions. The role includes overnight and weekend work, with extensive local and regional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• OSHA 40-hour training preferred; must be able to pass OSHA 40HR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Collect and conduct testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials to project specifications.
• Ensure testing equipment is properly functioning, maintained per company and manufacturer policies, and calibrated.
• Operate tools including pneumatic jackhammers and water/steam pressure washers for cleaning drilling equipment.
• Perform manual labor tasks, including assembling/disassembling drilling equipment and rig setup.
• Maintain and clean drilling rigs, trucks, and work areas to keep equipment in good condition.
• Accurately complete daily time and labor reports and submit paperwork on time.
• Maintain assigned vehicles, schedule oil changes, and ensure upkeep of interiors and exteriors.
• Travel to job sites as required within the region.
