Job summary

Braun Intertec is seeking a geotechnical drilling assistant for our Saint Cloud, MN office. The role supports the Crew Chief in drilling operations, assists with sample collection, data recording, and equipment maintenance, while ensuring safety and prompt paperwork completion.

The position requires willingness to travel up to 50–75% and the ability to lift 50 lbs regularly, with a valid driver’s license preferred; CDL is a plus. A competitive compensation package is offered.

Braun Intertec is seeking a geotechnical drilling assistant to join our St Cloud, MN office.The Drilling Assistant has primary responsibility for performing subsurface investigations for geotechnical and environmental purposes. A subsurface investigation can involve collecting soil, rock, groundwater samples, and logging the field data. These investigations take place over a wide variety of terrain, conditions, and weather. The Drilling Assistant will assist the Crew Chief in all aspects of the drilling operation and is expected to eventually gain the experience necessary to perform all the duties of a Crew Chief.ResponsibilitiesAssists the Crew Chief in all aspects of drilling operation, while gaining the experience necessary to work with minimal directionAssists in the collection of field samples and data.Returns field samples and data, organized and completed to the Project Manager.Responsible for maintaining tooling, equipment, and vehicles.Assists the Crew Chief with trouble shooting mechanical problems and perform the required repairs.Use required and approved personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing all functions.Responsible for promoting, communicating, and adhering to safe work practicesResponsible for completing all required paperwork and training in a timely mannerOperate Vehicles in a safe and lawful manner.Maintain necessary compliance documentation relating to the operation of commercial motor vehiclesRequired Experience and Qualifications:Prior geotechnical drilling experience is preferred, but not requiredStrong technical and mechanical aptitudeAbility to diagnose mechanical problems and perform necessary repairs.Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, customers, and supervisors, while fostering a collaborative and engaging work environmentstrong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-taskAbility to problem solve and work in a dynamic work environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.Dependable, the ability to maintain reliable attendance and work a full-time schedule which sometimes includes weekend and night workMust be available for travel up to 50-75%, occasionally on short noticeAbility to work outdoors, in a field / construction work setting, in all types of weather conditions and terrainHigh School Diploma or equivalent is preferredAbility to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis, 75lbs occasionallyA valid drivers license and acceptable driving recordThe ability to obtain a CDL license within 90 days is preferredAbility to pass a driving / road testAbility to pass a pre employment drug screen, criminal background check and motor vehicle record check#LI-PD1The successful candidate will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company provided training and mentoring.
