Job summary

UES, Inc. in Overland Park, KS seeks Driller’s Assistants to join our geotechnical drilling team. You’ll support drillers, handle samples, and help operate equipment on outdoor job sites across transportation, energy, and infrastructure projects.

This physically demanding field role requires a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the ability to travel with occasional overnight stays. No two days are the same as you gain hands-on experience and grow toward a Driller position with safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–3 years in civil, geotechnical, or environmental field services preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour training preferred; must pass OSHA 40HR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record; CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Driller with setup and operation of geotechnical drilling equipment.
• Handle drill rods, tooling, soil samples, and field equipment.
• Collect and identify soil and rock samples.
• Operate and maintain drilling equipment and support sites safely.
• Maintain drilling rigs, trucks, and work areas.
• Accurately complete daily time and labor reports.
• Travel to job sites and adapt to changing schedules.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Support two-person or small crews and learn drilling techniques.
