Job summary

UES is seeking a Driller's Assistant to support geotechnical drilling operations, assist with soil exploration, well installations, and site investigations. You will operate and maintain drilling equipment, follow safety protocols, and assist the drill crew chief to ensure testing requirements are met.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, comfort with outdoor work, and the ability to travel up to 70% to various project sites, including overnight stays, with potential for extended assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 to 3 years of Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Field Services experience preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour training preferred; must pass and maintain OSHA 40HR certification.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred or willing to obtain.
• MS Office and Field Data Collection software experience beneficial.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints, procedures, manuals, and reports.

Responsibilities

• Collect and test soil, concrete, and materials to project specs.
• Ensure testing equipment functions and calibrated per policies.
• Operate drilling-related tools and equipment.
• Assemble/disassemble drilling equipment and rig setup.
• Maintain and clean drilling rigs, trucks, and work areas.
• Complete daily time and labor reports and submit paperwork on time.
• Maintain company vehicles, schedule oil changes, check fluids.
• Adhere to safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Travel to job sites within the region, possibly overnight or extended stays.
• Perform other duties to support project goals.
