Job summary

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a Project Manager, Civil or Geotechnical Engineer for our Vienna, VA office. The role leads multi-disciplinary teams on transportation-oriented projects, blending technical leadership with client-focused delivery.

You will oversee scope, cost, and schedule, mentor staff, and prepare deliverables while maintaining high-quality client engagements and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BS in civil engineering; MS in geotechnical engineering preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia or able to reciprocity within six months.
• 8+ years geotechnical experience incl. site investigation, lab testing, analysis, construction support.
• 2+ years managing geotechnical projects from proposal to construction.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT guidelines, and alternative delivery methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong organization.
• Proficient in industry-standard software; OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key member of a collaborative project team on transportation design/construction.
• Understand client needs and deliver projects meeting client and company goals.
• Develop work scopes and cost estimates for new opportunities.
• Manage financial and technical aspects of projects.
• Assign and manage work within geotechnical teams.
• Execute projects to meet technical, quality, budget, and scheduling requirements.
• Plan and direct geotechnical field observation and testing programs.
• Prepare geotechnical analyses and recommendations for design/construction (deep foundations, embankments, etc.).
• Work effectively in a single profit center and collaborative environment.
• Prepare project deliverables including reports, plans, and specifications.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communications for client deliverables and regulatory submittals.
• Mentor/coaching for junior staff.
