Job summary

Texas A&M Forest Service in College Station, TX, is seeking a Geospatial Analyst II to join the Operations Technology & Intelligence Support team. You will develop data-driven solutions to enhance wildfire preparedness and response, performing advanced geospatial analyses and automating critical workflows.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4+ years of geospatial experience; Python, ArcGIS Pro, Azure Functions, and Office proficiency are key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, spatial sciences, emergency management, or related field.
• 4+ years in geospatial analysis or related work; advanced degree may substitute.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data visualization and workflow design.
• Working knowledge of relational database concepts.
• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder and Operations Dashboard.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Familiarity with Azure Functions and Logic Apps.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently, manage projects, and solve complex problems.
• Desire to stay current with geospatial tech and emergency management.
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance data-driven solutions to improve wildfire response and resource management.
• Conduct advanced geospatial analyses to address complex wildfire and natural resource challenges.
• Automate workflows to maximize efficiency and improve response times.
• Communicate insights through reports, visualizations, and interactive platforms.
• Compile, process, and manage complex tabular, vector, and raster data sources.
• Support division collaboration and program messaging using latest technology.
• Participate in geospatial working group and collaborate with TAMFS programs.
• Occasionally support emergency response operations, including extended hours/weekends.
