Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Senior Geophysicist to lead a team delivering near-surface geophysical surveys and utility locating. You will design survey plans, analyze data, and interpret results to support infrastructure projects, environmental assessments, and earth-resource evaluations.

The role requires advanced geophysics expertise, leadership skills, and a willingness to train staff. Travel is expected as part of regional project work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or related field.
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
• Minimum 7-10 years’ experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Senior-level Geophysicist to train, manage, and conduct near-surface geophysical surveys.
• Demonstrate knowledge of GPR, magnetometry, terrain conductivity, electrical resistivity profiling, electrical resistivity sounding, seismic refraction, MASW, and utility locating.
• With support from the National Manager for Geophysics, build a regional geophysics team including project managers and field staff.
• Direct and supervise field staff to sample, test and collect data and document site activities.
• Monitor performance of teams, provide training, conduct site visits, quality audits, and safety incident investigations.
• Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects; participate in pre-task planning and report safety issues.
• Oversee and maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Interact with Senior VP of Operations, NAMs, Department Managers and Region Leadership to promote geophysical services.
• Collaborate with geophysical SMEs on large, complex projects.
• Develop written proposals to clients for small and large projects including quality control review of proposals.
• Evaluate complex geophysical data and prepare written reports.
• May serve as team member or lead in meetings with clients for specific projects/tasks.
• Direct management of employees.
