Job summary

Salt Lake Community College is seeking a geology classroom support role within the Division of Natural Sciences and Engineering. The position focuses on assisting students in geology labs and working with geology instrumentation to ensure a productive learning environment.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and familiarity with geology courses or instrumentation, plus strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of students and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience in geology courses or familiarity with geology instrumentation preferred.
• Advanced experience in geology methods or instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide and maintain a professional working atmosphere in assigned areas.
• Assist students with questions and labs, and explain principles.
• Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, and faculty.
• Provide timely feedback on assignments and return graded work per department standards.
• Help maintain a safe and respectful instructional environment.
• Respond to student concerns or inquiries promptly (1–2 days).
• Know and enforce FERPA guidelines and college policies.
• Be able to work with diverse groups and communicate effectively across campus.
