Central Oregon Community College's Geology department is seeking a Federal Work Study Geology Field Assistant to organize rocks, minerals and fossils into a labeled, accessible collection for teaching and outreach.

You will identify specimens, label items, and assist with educational activities under supervision, working with staff and faculty in a dynamic student-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Identify rocks and minerals for labeling and organization.
• Label and organize rocks, minerals and fossils for accessibility.
• Demonstrate ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
• Interact professionally with diverse students, staff and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Organize rocks, minerals and fossils in the COCC Geology collection with labeled organization.
• Identify common rocks, minerals and fossils and ensure accurate labeling.
• Assist in creating an accessible rock library for teaching and outreach.
