Job summary

The Department of Environmental Protection of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a Professional Geologist Manager to coordinate and oversee complex hydrogeologic projects ensuring safe drinking water for communities across the region.

You will supervise licensed geologists and trainees, prepare technical analyses, and consult with applicants, officials, and other stakeholders while supporting regulatory requirements for public water systems. Telework may be available part-time.

Qualifications

• Two years as a Licensed Professional Geologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
• Active license as a professional geologist issued by PA State Board is required.
• Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth sciences, geosciences, geoenvironmental sciences, environmental sciences, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hydrogeologic evaluations to inform recommendations for final technical decisions and actions.
• Direct, plan, and assign work for a team of licensed professionals and trainees.
• Prepare sound analyses and written feedback; coordinate meetings with applicants, officials, professionals, and other parties.
• Supervise inspections for public water system sites and evaluate proximity to contamination sources.
• Coordinate and direct geologic reviews for regional drinking water issues, including compliance, contamination, droughts, floods, and infrastructure damage.
