Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking a Geologist to join the Materials Lab in Maplewood. The role provides geotechnical expertise to statewide transportation projects, evaluating rock and aggregate materials, performing tests, and preparing reports in line with current specifications.

On-site work in Maplewood. Requires 2+ years geotechnical experience; a geology/geophysics degree may substitute for one year. Valid Class D license and background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional geotechnical experience.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Geology/Geophysics can substitute for one year of experience.
• Valid Class D driver's license.
• Experience with lab materials testing methods and QA/QC.
• Experience evaluating aggregate materials.

Responsabilités

• Evaluate rock and aggregate materials and perform advanced geotechnical tests.
• Prepare test reports aligned with current specifications.
• Ensure compliance with AMRL accreditation standards.
• Provide technical assistance to contractors and transportation personnel.
