Job summary

WSB is seeking a CMT Technician, Materials in Rochester, MN to perform field and laboratory tests to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards. You will collect soil and concrete samples, operate testing equipment, and prepare detailed reports.

The role requires collaboration with engineering staff, contractors, and clients to uphold safety and quality on site. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma; relevant inspection or testing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience and/or certifications related to construction inspection or construction materials testing preferred but not required.
• Possession of a valid driver\'s license with clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
• Must pass the Nuclear Density Safety Course within 60 days of employment (if not currently held).
• CAPA A certification preferred.
• Ability to operate computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• Must be able to work outdoors and travel daily within assigned territory.

Responsibilities

• Perform field tests according to prescribed procedures and standards.
• Collect soil and concrete samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports.
• Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare reports and technical data.
• Operate computer systems and peripheral equipment; maintain results log.
• Set up, maintain, and calibrate equipment.
• Confer with Engineering staff on test efforts.
• Inspect construction activities on heavy highway construction projects.
• Monitor work performed by contractors or vendors.
• Ensure materials used on projects meet specifications.
• Inspect excavation, embankment, borrow pits, and placement of topsoil.
• Complete appropriate forms and paperwork for construction activities completed each day.
• Maintain contact with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Work with other task team members and leaders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel may be required.
