Job Overview

We are seeking a Geologist to support Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and Low Carbon Solutions (LCS) initiatives, based out of the Spring, Texas campus for a one year assignment. The role integrates geological, petrophysical, and reservoir engineering data to optimize reservoir performance and evaluate carbon storage opportunities across base. It functions as a subsurface hub, sitting between geoscience, reservoir engineering, operations, and environmental teams to develop solutions that meet operational, regulatory, and sustainability objectives. The position combines hands on technical work, including static reservoir modeling and EOR opportunity identification, with the less visible but high stakes obligations of reserve certification, abandonment risk assessment, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate geological, petrophysical, and reservoir data to support EOR projects
  • Maximize carbon storage value while maintaining reservoir value
  • Develop and maintain static reservoir models
  • Characterize reservoir heterogeneity
  • Identifying EOR opportunities
  • Supporting pattern surveillance and optimization, and collaborating across multiple teams including Global Ops and LCS
  • Provides significant support for abandonment evaluations, regulatory compliance, and SSHE-related subsurface assessments
  • Ensure alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Support annual volume certification activities for LCS operations
  • Reserve and storage volume assessments, technical documentation, and audit support
Qualifications
  • Masters degree in related field.
  • Experience with reservoir characterization and static reservoir modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods and Carbon Capture & Storage (CCUS) principles.
  • Strong petrophysics background, with the ability to translate log, core, and seismic data into subsurface interpretations.
  • Experience with reserve estimation and subsurface evaluation for reservoir or storage assets.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements and Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) standards.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, including audit support materials and regulatory reporting.
