Job summary

Raise is seeking a Geophysicist for a contract role in Spring, TX, onsite. The position emphasizes seismic interpretation, formation evaluation, and collaboration with geoscientists and engineers to design FE protocols for drill wells.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in 2D/3D seismic data, inversion/AVO, and carbonate systems, with a proven track record in hydrocarbon prospects and unconventional plays.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Geotechnical or Geophysical required.
  • Geology & Geophysical interpretation skills.
  • Experience interpreting gravity and magnetic data.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine log interpretation (porosity, water saturation, net reservoir, permeability and/or productivity).
  • Conduct routine evaluations open/cased hole LWD logs, and core data.
  • Interface with geoscientists and engineers to design formation evaluation protocol for drill wells.
  • Advise stakeholders on data types to acquire for FE activities of an active drill well program.
  • Provide FE support for drill wells, liaise with contractors, quality check vendor products and present to Business Unit or Management.
  • Carry out quantitative Petrophysical interpretation.
  • Provide FE input in opportunity generation and ongoing Field studies.
  • Support Procurement in the administration of G&G contracts.
  • Experience as exploration geophysicist with high end skills in seismic interpretation.
  • Proven track record in generating prospects and discovering hydrocarbons.
  • Interpretation, evaluation and appraisal skills of exploration drilling opportunities using 2D and 3D seismic data, and other geophysical data.
  • Experienced with post-stack and pre-stack seismic inversion / AVO.
  • Experience in seismic attribute analysis to define structural and depositional environment/facies.
  • Strong experience with carbonates.
  • Application of geophysics to unconventional plays experience.

Raise is currently hiring a contract team member on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader.

Overview
  • Supports and enhances 2D/3D seismic and wellbore acquisition programs across company.
  • Will interface with the operating groups, other technical specialists, and vendors to provide 2D/3D seismic and borehole seismic survey acquisition solutions which safely meet organizational goals and commitments.
  • May serve as a Formation Evaluation Specialist.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine log interpretation (porosity, water saturation, net reservoir, permeability and/or productivity)

  • Interface with geoscientists and engineers (reservoir, subsurface and drilling) to design formation evaluation protocol for drill wells
  • Advise key stakeholders on the type of data (mud logging, coring, well log, reservoir quality samples, reservoir pressures, and well tests) to acquireAnchor FE activities of an active drill well program
  • Provide FE support for drill wells, liaise with contractors, quality check vendor products and present to Business Unit or Management
  • Carry out quantitative Petrophysical interpretation
  • Provide FE input in opportunity generation and ongoing Field studies

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Geotechnical or Geophysical required
  • Previous experience in a closely related position
  • Geology & Geophysical interpretation skills
  • Advanced Petrophysical analysis skills in Siliciclastic settings
  • Competency in computing applications (Geology & Petrel)
  • Strong knowledge of the Petroleum Geology of the local area at a basic minimum
  • Geoscience computing skills
  • Good team player, ability to work effectively in and with diverse work groups
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills
  • Experience in interpreting gravity and magnetic data.
  • Sound knowledge in seismic processing and seismic acquisition operations.
  • Strong structural geology background with experience in all tectonic systems, in all geologic environments and all reservoir types.
