Responsibilities

  • Threat modeling and mission risk assessments for GEOINT ground systems, supporting infrastructure and workflows.
  • Develop resiliency strategies to improve survivability, recoverability, and availability of GEOINT ground systems.
  • Develop and maintain COOP plans and Recovery in Place Operations (RIPO) planning.
  • Support warning, readiness, and mission assurance activities to improve operational preparedness.

Position Overview

Stratos Solutions has an opportunity for a GEOINT Resiliency & Threat Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) Space customer within the GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO) in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will provide systems engineering and mission assurance support focused on ensuring the resiliency, survivability, and operational continuity of GEOINT ground systems supporting critical national security missions.

This role will evaluate threats to GEOINT architectures, assess mission risks, support continuity planning, and develop resiliency strategies that enable mission success during degraded, denied, or disrupted operating conditions. The successful candidate will work across engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and acquisition organizations to identify vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, conduct threat-informed engineering analyses, and support continuity of operations (COOP), warning, Recovery in Place Operations (RIPO), and mission assurance planning.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of GEOINT ground systems, mission architectures, threat analysis, and systems engineering principles, with experience supporting resiliency planning across Intelligence Community or Department of Defense mission environments.

Responsibilities

The GEOINT Resiliency & Threat Engineer will support Government customers in developing and implementing mission assurance, resiliency, and threat-informed engineering strategies for GEOINT ground systems and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Threat Modeling & Mission Risk Assessment
  • Perform threat modeling and mission impact assessments for GEOINT ground systems, supporting infrastructure, and mission workflows.
  • Identify operational, cyber, physical, environmental, and supply chain threats that could impact mission execution.
  • Analyze system vulnerabilities and recommend engineering, operational, and procedural mitigations.
  • Conduct mission dependency and criticality assessments to identify single points of failure and operational risks.
  • Support development of mission assurance products and technical risk assessments for Government leadership.
Resiliency Engineering
  • Develop resiliency strategies that improve the survivability, recoverability, and operational availability of GEOINT ground systems.
  • Evaluate system architectures for fault tolerance, redundancy, graceful degradation, and recovery capabilities.
  • Recommend architectural improvements that enhance mission resilience against evolving threats.
  • Support engineering trade studies evaluating resiliency alternatives throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Assess impacts of proposed system modifications on mission resilience and operational effectiveness.
Continuity of Operations (COOP) & Recovery Planning
  • Develop and maintain Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans supporting GEOINT mission execution.
  • Support Recovery in Place Operations (RIPO) planning and implementation activities.
  • Assist with continuity planning for mission-essential functions, alternate operating locations, and degraded operations.
  • Participate in continuity exercises, tabletop events, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Develop recovery procedures supporting rapid restoration of mission capabilities following disruptions.
Warning, Readiness & Mission Assurance
  • Support warning activities by evaluating emerging threats, operational risks, and potential impacts to GEOINT missions.
  • Assist Government leadership in developing mission response options during contingency operations.
  • Develop mission assurance documentation, operational concepts, and resiliency implementation plans.
  • Support readiness assessments and recommend improvements to operational preparedness.
  • Coordinate with operational organizations to validate resiliency planning assumptions and response procedures.
Systems Engineering & Program Office Support
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, mission operators, acquisition professionals, and external stakeholders to integrate resiliency requirements into system development.
  • Support engineering reviews, architecture working groups, and technical assessments.
  • Review system designs, interface documentation, and technical baselines for resiliency impacts.
  • Develop technical briefings, white papers, and engineering recommendations supporting Government decision-making.
  • Provide technical support during acquisition planning, architecture modernization, and capability transition efforts.
Required Qualifications
Education & Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Experience supporting mission assurance, resiliency engineering, threat analysis, or systems engineering within the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense.
  • Experience performing threat modeling, mission risk assessments, or vulnerability analyses.
  • Knowledge of Continuity of Operations (COOP), Recovery in Place Operations (RIPO), mission continuity planning, and operational readiness concepts.
  • Experience evaluating system architectures for resiliency, fault tolerance, and mission survivability.
  • Strong analytical and systems thinking skills with the ability to assess complex mission dependencies.
  • Experience preparing technical assessments, engineering documentation, and executive briefings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills supporting multidisciplinary technical teams.
Desired Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), particularly GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO) activities.
  • Experience supporting National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) or other GEOINT mission organizations.
  • Knowledge of GEOINT processing architectures, enterprise ground systems, and mission workflows.
  • Experience supporting mission assurance, resiliency, or continuity planning for Intelligence Community space or ground systems.
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community warning processes, operational response planning, and mission readiness assessments.
  • Experience conducting architecture trade studies, mission dependency analyses, and resiliency engineering assessments.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and their integration with mission resiliency and system engineering.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering technical reviews, architecture review boards, and acquisition milestones.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, or architecture modeling tools.
  • Experience supporting exercises, contingency planning, or operational response activities.
  • INCOSE CSEP, PMP, Security , CISSP, or comparable professional certifications are highly desirable.
