Position Overview

Stratos Solutions has an opportunity for a GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO) Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support an Intelligence Community (IC) Space customer in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will provide deep technical expertise across GEOINT ground systems, advising government leadership on system architectures, processing baselines, technology modernization, and mission integration initiatives supporting national security missions.

This position serves as a trusted technical advisor within the Program Office, providing systems engineering, technical assessments, architecture evaluations, and mission-focused recommendations across the lifecycle of GEOINT ground system capabilities. The successful candidate will collaborate with government engineers, mission operators, acquisition professionals, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), and industry partners to evaluate technical solutions, resolve complex engineering challenges, and ensure delivered capabilities meet evolving mission requirements.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of GEOINT processing architectures, remote sensing technologies, and the Intelligence Community’s GEOINT enterprise, with expertise in Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) phenomenology, GEOINT processing baselines, and enterprise ground systems supporting the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

Responsibilities

The G2SPO Technical SME will provide technical leadership and systems engineering expertise supporting GEOINT ground systems, mission architectures, and capability modernization efforts across the Program Office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Technical Leadership & Systems Engineering
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to Government leadership on GEOINT ground system capabilities, architectures, and modernization initiatives.
  • Evaluate technical approaches, engineering solutions, and system architectures supporting current and future GEOINT missions.
  • Provide independent technical assessments and recommendations regarding system performance, risk, interoperability, and technical feasibility.
  • Support systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design reviews, integration, testing, deployment, and operational sustainment.
  • Review engineering documentation, interface specifications, architecture products, and technical baselines.
GEOINT Architecture & Mission Systems
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding GEOINT processing baselines, enterprise ground systems, and mission data processing architectures.
  • Advise Government stakeholders on GEOINT collection, processing, exploitation, dissemination, and mission integration workflows.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) sensing technologies, phenomenology, and associated physics.
  • Assess impacts of emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing mission architectures.
  • Support enterprise interoperability across GEOINT processing systems and Intelligence Community mission partners.
Technical Reviews & Program Support
  • Participate in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, engineering working groups, and architecture review boards.
  • Evaluate contractor technical deliverables, engineering products, and development plans.
  • Identify technical risks, integration challenges, and potential impacts to cost, schedule, and mission performance.
  • Develop technical recommendations supporting Government decision-making and acquisition strategies.
  • Assist Government leadership in resolving complex technical issues across multiple development efforts.
Mission Integration & Customer Engagement
  • Collaborate with operational users, engineers, acquisition teams, and external stakeholders to ensure technical solutions satisfy mission requirements.
  • Support transition of new capabilities into operational environments.
  • Assist in defining technical priorities based on operational needs and mission objectives.
  • Represent the Program Office during technical exchanges with Government organizations, FFRDCs, and industry partners.
  • Provide technical briefings to senior Government leadership and mission stakeholders.
Technology Assessment & Innovation
  • Evaluate emerging GEOINT technologies, cloud architectures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and advanced analytics for mission applicability.
  • Recommend technical modernization strategies supporting long-term mission evolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, resiliency, scalability, and interoperability across the GEOINT enterprise.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving Intelligence Community architectures, technical standards, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
Education & Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

(Relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.)

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Extensive experience supporting GEOINT systems, ground architectures, or remote sensing programs within the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense.
  • Strong understanding of GEOINT processing baselines, exploitation workflows, and enterprise mission architectures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Electro-Optical (EO) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technologies, phenomenology, and associated physics.
  • Experience performing systems engineering, technical analysis, architecture evaluation, and engineering trade studies.
  • Experience supporting technical reviews, engineering working groups, and system lifecycle activities.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop practical engineering recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing senior Government leadership.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering and operational teams.
Desired Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), particularly the GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO).
  • Experience supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) or other GEOINT mission organizations.
  • Experience supporting Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) organizations within the Intelligence Community.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, Cameo, or similar systems engineering tools.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based GEOINT processing architectures and modern data exploitation environments.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications supporting GEOINT exploitation, image analysis, or mission automation.
  • Experience evaluating contractor technical baselines, software development efforts, or system integration activities.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks, interface control documentation, and technical baseline management.
  • Experience supporting acquisition milestones, technical evaluations, and source selection activities.
  • INCOSE CSEP, PMP, DAWIA, or comparable professional certifications are highly desirable.
