Job summary

Stratos Solutions is seeking a GEOINT Independent Verification, Validation, & Test (IVV&T) Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) Space customer in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will provide independent systems engineering and test expertise across the verification, validation, integration, and operational assessment lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IV&V, integration, and testing across GEOINT ground systems to ensure requirements, performance, and mission objectives are met.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, cases, and success criteria for DT and OT activities.
  • Coordinate with government PMs, systems engineers, developers, and operators; document findings and resolutions of issues.

Position Overview

Stratos Solutions has an opportunity for a GEOINT Independent Verification, Validation & Test (IVV&T) Engineer to support an Intelligence Community (IC) Space customer within the GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO) in Chantilly, VA. The selected candidate will provide independent systems engineering and test expertise supporting the verification, validation, integration, and operational assessment of GEOINT ground system capabilities throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

This role will ensure that delivered capabilities satisfy mission requirements, perform as intended within operational environments, and are fully validated prior to fielding. The successful candidate will work closely with government program managers, systems engineers, developers, mission operators, and test organizations to develop test strategies, evaluate technical performance, identify deficiencies, and support the transition of new capabilities into operational use.

The ideal candidate possesses experience supporting complex Intelligence Community or Department of Defense systems through system integration, verification, validation, developmental testing, operational testing, and independent technical assessments. Familiarity with GEOINT processing architectures, remote sensing systems, and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) mission is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The GEOINT IVV&T Engineer will provide independent verification, validation, integration, and test support to ensure GEOINT ground systems satisfy technical requirements, operational needs, and mission objectives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Independent Verification & Validation
  • Perform independent verification and validation (IV&V) of system requirements, designs, software, interfaces, and delivered capabilities.
  • Verify system implementations satisfy approved functional, performance, interface, and operational requirements.
  • Conduct independent technical assessments to identify design deficiencies, integration risks, and mission impacts.
  • Evaluate system compliance with Government technical baselines, standards, and architecture requirements.
  • Develop recommendations to improve system quality, reliability, maintainability, and mission effectiveness.
Test Planning & Execution
  • Develop comprehensive verification, validation, integration, and test strategies supporting system development and acquisition milestones.
  • Prepare test plans, test procedures, test cases, and success criteria for developmental and operational testing.
  • Coordinate and support developmental testing (DT), operational testing (OT), user evaluations, and system acceptance activities.
  • Participate in laboratory testing, system integration events, field demonstrations, and operational exercises.
  • Analyze test results, document findings, and verify resolution of identified deficiencies.
Systems Integration & Engineering
  • Support end-to-end integration of GEOINT ground systems, mission applications, and enterprise services.
  • Evaluate interface performance, data flows, interoperability, and system integration across multiple mission environments.
  • Review system engineering artifacts, interface control documents (ICDs), architecture products, and technical documentation.
  • Support engineering reviews, integration working groups, and technical exchange meetings.
  • Assess impacts of system changes on interoperability, performance, and mission operations.
Mission Validation & Operational Readiness
  • Validate system performance against operational mission scenarios and user requirements.
  • Support transition of new capabilities into operational environments by verifying mission readiness.
  • Coordinate with mission operators to ensure delivered capabilities support real-world operational workflows.
  • Assist in developing operational test scenarios that reflect Intelligence Community mission needs.
  • Evaluate system performance during operational demonstrations and mission rehearsals.
Program Office Support
  • Provide independent technical recommendations to Government leadership regarding system readiness, technical risk, and operational suitability.
  • Track test discrepancies, software defects, and engineering issues through resolution.
  • Support acquisition milestone reviews, technical baseline assessments, and program readiness evaluations.
  • Develop technical reports, engineering assessments, executive briefings, and test documentation supporting Government decision-making.
  • Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity teams, acquisition personnel, and operational stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
Education & Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Geospatial Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

(Relevant experience may substitute for degree requirements.)

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Technical & Functional Skills
  • Experience supporting Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V), system integration, developmental testing, or operational testing for complex software-intensive systems.
  • Experience developing test strategies, test plans, test procedures, and verification documentation.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes, requirements verification, and system validation methodologies.
  • Experience evaluating software, hardware, interfaces, and integrated system performance.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Experience supporting engineering reviews, technical working groups, and system integration activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing technical reports and executive briefings.
Desired Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), particularly the GEOINT Ground System Program Office (G2SPO).
  • Experience supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) or other GEOINT mission organizations.
  • Knowledge of GEOINT processing architectures, enterprise ground systems, and GEOINT exploitation workflows.
  • Experience supporting verification and validation of Electro-Optical (EO), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or multi-INT processing systems.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Jama, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with automated test frameworks, test management tools, and software quality assurance processes.
  • Experience supporting Agile software development, DevSecOps environments, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD pipelines).
