Job summary

LiquidPiston is seeking a Mechanical Integration Engineer to join the genset application development team. You will design, package, and prototype high-performance rotary-engine based gensets, creating detailed SolidWorks models and production drawings while coordinating with electrical and manufacturing teams.

You will lead early-stage architecture, perform analyses with hand calculations and ANSYS, and help translate requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2+ years in engine component/system design and simulation.
• Experience integrating multiple subsystems into a full package.
• Strong understanding of engine packaging and design for manufacturing.
• Proficient in SolidWorks (modeling and assemblies).
• Experience with mechanical simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS).
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and communicate results.

Responsibilities

• Generate and evaluate ideas to improve packaging, durability, and manufacturability and reduce weight of gensets.
• Create detailed part and assembly models using SolidWorks.
• Lead early-stage genset architecture and layout processes.
• Perform component and system-level analysis using hand calculations, simulation tools, and experimental data.
• Create and release production-ready technical drawings.
• Work from requirements to select appropriate components for assembly.
• Assist senior engineers in developing project requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical engineering to package electrical systems into modules.
• Coordinate with suppliers and machine shops from RFQ to incoming inspection.
• Support genset assembly processes and contribute to hands-on prototyping.
• Participate in genset testing and inform design iterations with results.
• Develop standardized procedures for system design, analysis, and documentation.
• Develop and implement subsystem test plans with technicians.
• Present ideas and results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Maintain a collaborative, proactive engineering mindset.
