Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a Research Assistant for the Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO) in NYC. You will extract nucleic acids from diverse biomaterials, perform QA/QC, and train on cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics methods.

The role requires clean benchwork, strong attention to detail, and collaboration across teams. You will work with ddPCR techniques to validate oncogenic changes, maintain precise records in LIMS, and communicate with vendors while supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field with at least 2 years of experience or Master’s degree.
• Experience purifying nucleic acids for NGS platforms and working with FFPE samples is valued.

Responsibilities

• Extract nucleic acids from a variety of biomaterials (fresh frozen, FFPE, cell lines, blood, plasma, serum, etc.).
• Perform QA/QC of extracted material.
• Train on spatial transcriptomic methods from 10x Genomics platforms.
• Learn design and execution of ddPCR experiments for validating oncogenic alterations.
• Work with team to create LEAN workflows.
• Interact with vendor technical support and sales representatives.
• Operate liquid handlers and robotic instruments for high-throughput processing.
• Maintain accurate records in a Laboratory Information Management System (Examplar Sapio LIMS).
• Use iLAB for billing purposes.
