Job summary

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a Manager of Research and Development within the Integrated Genomics Operation (IGO) to lead the R&D group and drive the development of cutting-edge genomic assays from concept to scalable, high-throughput production.

You will oversee technicians, design new assays, document experiments, troubleshoot data anomalies, and collaborate with data analysts and partners to deliver reliable genomic services at MSK.

Qualifications

• PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral experience in an academic research environment.
• Hands-on experience with experimental and computational genomics methodologies.
• Strong publication record in NGS assay development.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of technicians focused on testing and developing new genomics technologies.
• Design, evaluate, and optimize novel assays, including feasibility assessments and protocol development.
• Maintain detailed experimental records, technical documentation, and written summaries of research activities.
• Identify anomalies in data and resolve root causes through systematic troubleshooting.
• Partner with production teams to transition validated assays into high-throughput services.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including data analysts and scientific partners.
• Mentor team members, evaluate performance, and provide timely feedback.
• Communicate scientific concepts clearly in lab meetings and seminars.
• Contribute creatively to problem-solving while considering core facility operations.
