Job summary

The Ohio Department of Health Public Health Laboratory seeks a Microbiology Supervisor 1 to lead the development and implementation of whole genome sequencing within the lab. You will supervise section scientists and oversee pre-, intra-, and post-analytical sequencing activities, ensuring timely, accurate results for priority pathogens and newborn screening.

Qualifications

• Graduate core program in microbiology with 6 months of microbiology experience or 6 months training/experience in employee training & development.
• Undergraduate core program in microbiology with 18 months of microbiology experience and 6 months training/experience in employee training & development.
• Or 6 months of experience as Laboratory Scientist 3, 83293.

Responsibilities

• Attend scheduled section meetings.
• Keep abreast of recent developments in the field.
• Maintain professional contact with physicians, laboratories, hospitals, clinics, and local health departments concerning tests and results.
• Work in other areas of Microbiology as priorities/outbreaks require.
• Assist with outreach to outside laboratories and partners to develop relationships.
• Lead development of section's response to federal grant opportunities, monitoring and reporting on grant workplans.
