Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health's Genomic Medical Laboratory is seeking a Genomic Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 to assist the NGS team in establishing testing, data analysis and reporting protocols that meet regulatory standards.

The role involves performing molecular tasks such as nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library preparation, sequencing workflow execution and analysis, with emphasis on teamwork and clear communication. The position requires rigor in documentation and adherence to lab protocols.

Qualifications

• B.S. /B.A. in laboratory science, molecular science or medical technology.
• Successful completion of a clinical laboratory medicine rotation, clinical practicum, or equivalent clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Perform nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library preparation, sequencing workflow executions and analysis per established procedures.
• Conduct start-up, quality control, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and lab equipment.
• Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies
• Assist in validation and implementation of NGS-based assays and QA projects
• Maintain accurate lab records and documentation
• Perform routines tasks independently and produce reliable results
• Maintain laboratory equipment and optimize operations for efficiency
• Answer client questions and inquiries and escalate as needed
