Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Genomic Medical Laboratory Scientist I to support the NGS team in establishing testing, data analysis and reporting protocols that meet regulatory standards. You will perform molecular tasks including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library prep and sequencing workflows, contributing to accurate results and continuous quality improvements.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong scientific thinking and effective communication as part of a clinical pathology team

Qualifications

• B.S./B.A. in laboratory science, molecular science or medical technology.
• Successful completion of a clinical laboratory medicine rotation, clinical practicum, or equivalent clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Perform nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library preparation, sequencing workflow executions and analysis per procedures.
• Perform start-up, quality control, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and lab equipment.
• Manage inventory and ensure supplies for daily operation and testing.
• Assist in validation and implementation of NGS-based assays and participate in quality projects.
• Maintain accurate lab records and documentation.
• Perform routine tasks independently and generate reliable results.
• Maintain equipment and optimize lab operations for efficiency.
• Answer client questions and provide satisfactory responses.
