Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Genome Editing Scientist–Bioinformatics in Chesterfield, MO to build reproducible data pipelines and predictive models for CRISPR-based editing. You will work with molecular biology and structural biology colleagues to translate biological questions into computational strategies and to connect predictions with experiments.

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or a related field, or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Strong programming skills in Python and R and ability to write maintainable, well-documented code.
• Experience analyzing genome editing NGS datasets (amplicon/targeted sequencing) and interpreting results for CRISPR-Cas.
• Knowledge of statistical methods for editing precision and efficiency; ability to communicate assumptions clearly.
• Experience with plant functional genomics analyses and integrating multi-omics signals.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reproducible pipelines and integrated datasets to evaluate editing tool performance.
• Develop statistical and ML models to quantify drivers of editing efficiency and compare tool variants.
• Design computational approaches to improve editing component design (guide/target selection).
• Analyze large-scale sequencing data to characterize editing outcomes and generate summaries.
• Collaborate with molecular/structural biology teams to translate data into actionable recommendations.
• Coordinate with genomics and data science stakeholders to ensure scalable pipelines.
