Job summary

GE Vernova's GE Gas Power Atlanta Service Center in Chamblee, GA seeks a Generator Repair Technician (Winder) to inspect, disassemble, repair, and refurbish turbine generators, focusing on rotating field components.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED (or 2 years relevant experience) and at least 3 years in mechanical or repair work; candidates must be onsite and able to work overtime and pass drug/background checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent or 2 years of relevant work experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a mechanical or repair field

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical disassembly, refurbish & reassembly of generator rotors in high quality and timely fashion using induction heating machines, large propane torches, overhead cranes and various hand and power tools (i.e. removal and installation of couplings, fans, retaining rings, wedges, blocking, copper coils)
• Braze copper winding connectors by propane torches and induction heaters
• Perform and assist with all generator's electrical diagnostic tests according to testing procedures
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
• Participate in continuous improvement projects.
