Job summary

Western International Gas & Cylinders, Inc. seeks an on-site technician to repair, service and maintain engine-driven generators and electric welding machines, while ensuring a safe working environment.

The role involves ordering parts, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and sometimes servicing equipment at customer sites. Strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills and the ability to read wiring diagrams are important.

Qualifications

• Three years of related technical experience.
• Post secondary education equivalent to a one year Technical College or equivalent is an asset.
• Knowledge of welding process, equipment setup, welding gases and welding wires.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to speak effectively to customers, clients, vendors, managers and other employees.

Responsibilities

• Replaces defective parts and completes preventative maintenance required.
• Orders parts as required to complete repairs.
• Inspects returned equipment for proper operation and/or damage by the customer.
• Maintains clean and organized work environment at all times.
• Prepares and completes paperwork for all machine repairs.
• Occasionally required to service equipment and customers off-site.
• Maintains communication with all branch personnel.
• Occasionally advises customers regarding best equipment for their projects.
• Performs troubleshooting of machines, calibrations on-site and off-site.
