Job summary

Nixon Power Services in Louisville, KY is seeking a Generator Technician to maintain standby generator systems, troubleshoot gas and diesel engines, and ensure reliable power for our customers.

This full-time on-site role requires a High School Diploma or GED, hands-on generator experience, and a strong safety mindset. We offer competitive hourly pay, overtime opportunities, and benefits including medical, vision, dental, PTO, and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical School Certificate or Military training is a plus.
• 1–5 years of generator experience required.
• Experience with Kohler Power Systems is a plus.
• Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on standby generator systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair gas and diesel engines.
• Repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units.
• Install and test new generator units.
• Respond quickly to jobsites in case of emergency.
• Complete and submit work orders and reports in a timely manner.
• Prepare accurate quotes for repairs.
• Follow safety requirements, including proper use of PPE.
