Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, seeks a skilled technician to perform inspections and functional testing on manufactured generator systems. You will verify electrical codes compliance, ensure proper function per the engineer’s design, and confirm safety before energizing on-site.

Responsibilities include documenting test results, loading test sequences, handling gear with lifting aids, and performing panel removal/reinstallation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher; relevant work experience will be considered.
• NFPA70E certification required (can be provided by PowerSecure if other requirements are satisfactory).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and directions in English.
• Ability to document test results and product specifications accurately.
• Ability to perform unit conversions and measurements for splice plate length and voltage/amperage ratios.
• Must wear and maintain proper PPE.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Switchgear, Electrical, or Generator systems (applies unless applying for an apprenticeship).
• Engineering or programming experience will be accepted in lieu of Switchgear/Electrical/Generator experience.

Responsibilities

• Locate and track documentation for specific jobs.
• Run procedural tests and inspections for gear types.
• Load files and test sequences from project CD set notes.
• Accurately record test results and component specs.
• Move gear with forklift or pallet jack.
• Remove and reinstall panels up to 50 lb.
• Other duties as assigned.
