Job summary

Kirby is seeking a skilled field service technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on standby generators, control systems and transfer switches at customer sites.

You will use diagnostic tools, work with MTU and Volvo Penta equipment, and ensure safety and quality standards while delivering responsive service and clear communication with clients.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; technical degree is a plus.
Three years related experience with diesel engines, standby generators and controls.
Clean driving record and valid Driver’s License required.
Experience with mtu, Volvo Penta highly desired, but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, inspections and testing of standby generation equipment, automatic transfer switches, and diesel fire pumps.
Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines.
Make repair recommendations to customers; identify required parts to complete.
Perform repairs on generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines.
Utilize diagnostic tools – multimeter, megohm meter, OEM software.
Care for customers’ needs while following company procedures; maintain safety.

Job description

Responsible for maintenance, diagnostics, repair and upgrades to power generation and industrial equipment at customer locations. Working primarily on diesel and natural gas fired engines, generator ends, control systems, and power transfer switches/circuit breakers.

Salary Range:

$27.00 - $50.00 per hour

Sign-On Bonus:

Tech I - Tech II: $1000

Tech III: $2000

Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose problems with generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines
Make repair recommendations to customers; identify required parts to complete
Perform repairs on generators, transfer switches, fire pumps, and industrial engines
Utilize diagnostic tools – multimeter, megohm meter, OEM software
Ability to take care of the customers’ needs while following company procedures
Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures .

Experience with mtu and Volvo Penta highly desirable. Marine experience a plus.
