Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Field Service Engineer, you’ll travel across North America to support major gas and steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems. No two days are the same—one week you might lead a turbine outage in Texas, and the next, troubleshoot generator performance in Florida or assist with a key project in Canada.

You’ll be the technical face of Siemens Energy, ensuring critical energy infrastructure operates safely and efficiently. This program is your gateway to our world‑class field service team, providing opportunities to learn and grow in a dynamic environment while gaining exposure to advanced power generation technology and field leadership.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • During your first 12 months, you will complete classroom and instructor led training in Orlando, FL and Houston, TX (Deer Park) and participate in on-the-job training with expert engineers at multiple customer sites across the US. This will include working directly with our leading staff of field service engineers to develop skills in equipment operation, maintenance, job site safety, project management, leadership, and Siemens Energy’s business systems.
  • Develop essential skills in equipment operation, maintenance, job site safety, project management, leadership, and Siemens Energy’s business systems alongside our leading FSE staff.
  • Supervise technicians and mechanics during power plant maintenance shutdowns, addressing both planned and unplanned maintenance outages due to equipment performance issues.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble turbines and generators, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with our global engineering team to conduct specialized mechanical and electrical testing, serving as the primary customer contact during outages to ensure timely and accurate repairs.
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical equipment issues.
  • Execute inspections, measurements and performance testing.
  • Support commissioning, startup and modernization projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all Siemens Energy and customer safety standards.
What You Bring
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, or an equivalent combination of military and/or industrial experience along with a high school diploma or an associate degree.
  • 3 or years of field service, outage, maintenance, commissioning or power generation experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered at a higher level.
  • Experience working around rotating equipment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively across North America for up to 250 days per year, with assignments lasting from 2 to 15 weeks at a time, and a willingness to work extended hours of 12-14 hours per day, including weekends and holidays, resulting in a typical work week of 60-84 hours.
  • A self-starting leader who effectively utilizes available resources to create innovative solutions for challenging mechanical issues.
  • Must be physically capable of ascending and descending ladders, inspecting equipment in confined spaces, and lifting boxes weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • This program offers a flexible schedule that enhances your professional impact, earning potential, and work‑life balance. We are currently recruiting for our next class, which will commence in January and February 2027. Our recruitment timeline includes an in‑person interviewing event in Orlando and/or Houston during phases starting in Sept.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer‑sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
  • This position requires driving as an essential job function. Candidates must hold a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record at the time of application.
