Job summary

Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities in Savannah, GA is seeking a General Trades Craftsman (General Trades Tech 3) for 1st shift, 40 hours weekly, as a full-time role.

The position requires a high school diploma/GED and 3 years of building repairs experience, or 2 years at General Trades Tech 2. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining facilities systems, reading blueprints, and supervising staff as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and 3 years of building repairs and maintenance experience
• Or 2 years of experience at General Trades Tech 2 (FET031) or equivalent
• General mechanical knowledge is preferred
• Skilled in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, hardware, lock installation, painting, wallboard
• Experience in construction of facilities is a plus

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains security, climate control, and other facilities systems
• May serve as a lead worker and supervise staff
• Assembles, installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipes, plumbing, machinery, and equipment
• Reads blueprints, plans, drawings and sketches to determine work and resources required
• Renovates or builds additions to existing facilities
• Repairs and maintains plumbing fixtures, lighting, and HVAC components
• Operates plant equipment and building automation systems
• Keeps an accurate inventory of materials and equipment
• Wears safety equipment and follows all safety regulations
