Job summary

SMG System Medical Group in Charleston, WV is seeking a Physician Assistant to support General Surgery services. The APP coordinates care for surgical patients, performs rounds, pre-procedure evaluations, and diagnostic tasks while collaborating with surgical faculty to implement care plans.

You will work in inpatient and ambulatory settings, manage discharge planning, educate staff and patients, and participate in quality initiatives. Eligible new graduates considered; WV licensure required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree as Physician Assistant
• Graduate of an ARC-PA approved PA program
• NCCPA certification
• Licensed or eligible for WV licensure
• BLS certification required
• ACLS as needed by department

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized care for surgical patients in inpatient and ambulatory settings
• Completes daily rounds, pre-procedure evaluations and integrated assessments
• Orders tests and consults with surgical faculty per guidelines
• Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following clinical guidelines
• Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up tests
• Educates patients, families and staff; participates in teaching activities
