Job summary

SMG System Medical Group in South Charleston, WV, seeks an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to provide high-quality, patient-centered surgical care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The APP will assess, diagnose, treat, and coordinate care for surgical patients, participating in rounds, assessments, and discharge planning.

Requirements include PA degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s), ARC-PA program completion, NCCPA certification, WV licensure eligibility, BLS, and ACLS at departmental

Qualifications

• PA degree from ARC-PA accredited program.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Bachelor’s degree as Physician Assistant or Master's degree as Physician Assistant.
• Must be licensed or eligible for WV licensure.
• BLS certification required; ACLS at department discretion.

Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive, individualized care for surgical patients in inpatient and ambulatory settings.
• Perform rounds, pre-procedure evaluations, and orders as per guidelines.
• Conduct integrated clinical assessments and diagnostic tests.
• Coordinate with surgical faculty and teams to develop care plans.
• Discharge planning and care coordination for outpatient follow-up.
• Document plans, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record.
• Lead and participate in education programs for staff and learners.
• Contribute to quality outcomes and process improvements in surgical care.
