Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the General Surgery team in Massachusetts. The PA will evaluate, treat and manage patients with surgical conditions under the supervision of a licensed physician.

Qualifications include graduating from an AMA-recognized PA program accredited by ARC-PA, MA PA licensure, and ACLS certification; ATLS preferred. The role involves routine admissions, rounds, OR assists, orders and patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-recognized Physician Assistant training program accredited by ARC-PA.
• PA licensed as per MA regulations.
• ACLS certification required; ATLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Write admission orders and perform detailed histories and physicals on general surgery patients.
• First assist in the operating room for general surgery coverage and other surgical subspecialties.
• Perform daily patient rounds and follow up on all patients and consults including exams and tests.
• Manage drains, tubes, NGT, and other instruments; assist with procedures as needed.
• Provide patient education and participate in education of residents, fellows, nurses and students.
• Be primary responding clinician to pages from nursing staff regarding patient care.
