General Superintendent | Mission Critical / Data Center Construction

The Opportunity

An established national construction organisation is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to provide senior field leadership across complex, large-scale (Multi $Bn) hyperscale construction projects, with a focus on mission critical and data center delivery.

This is a senior operational position for a construction professional who can lead field teams, drive project performance and maintain high standards across safety, quality, programme and cost. The successful candidate will also play a key role in developing people, strengthening client relationships and supporting future business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Field Leadership: Oversee site operations across assigned projects, ensuring safe working practices, quality standards, programme milestones and construction procedures are consistently maintained.
• Team Development: Recruit, develop and mentor Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents and wider field personnel, building capable teams aligned with project requirements.
• Project Planning: Contribute to preconstruction strategy, constructability reviews, logistics and site sequencing, programme development, resource planning and project handover.
• Schedule & Quality: Monitor construction progress, identify delivery risks, resolve site-level challenges and drive completion in line with contractual requirements and project objectives.
• Client & Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with owners, design teams, project leadership and trade contractors, ensuring clear communication and effective resolution of issues.
• Operational Oversight: Conduct regular site reviews, assess field team performance, monitor compliance with safety and quality requirements, and ensure outstanding works and closeout activities are completed.
• Business Development: Support pursuit activities, client presentations and preconstruction engagement, providing practical construction expertise to help secure future projects.
• Training & Standards: Promote continuous improvement through field training, workforce development and consistent application of construction best practices.

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum of 15 years' experience within general contracting, including substantial responsibility for field operations on complex construction projects.
• Demonstrable experience leading Superintendents and multidisciplinary site teams across significant construction programmes.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, logistics, constructability, quality assurance and site safety.
• Experience contributing to preconstruction planning, estimating reviews, resource allocation and project mobilisation.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities while balancing programme, budget, workmanship and client expectations.
• Commercial awareness and sound judgement when assessing construction risks, resolving issues and making operational decisions.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication and conflict-resolution skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
• A proactive, organised and decisive approach, with the ability to assess complex situations and drive practical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline preferred, alongside any applicable licences or certifications required for the role.
