Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking a General Superintendent to supervise craft employees in a construction discipline work area. Travel to project sites will be required, with per diem provided where eligible.

The role emphasizes safety, scheduling, and coordination across departments to meet project goals, manage resources, and enforce safety policies.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in a similar facility, including construction tech, methods, equipment, tools and procedures, plus 1+ years supervising craft employees.
• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups and manage teams effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise work activities; determine methods, safety procedures, manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Oversee precision of rotating and static equipment.
• Coordinate work with different crafts, departments and contractors.
• Maintain liaison with safety, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure safety and schedule compliance.
• Assist in resolving construction and safety issues; conduct accident investigations as required.
• Communicate with HR to requisition manpower.
• Monitor safety program compliance and document corrective actions.
• Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections and support to project schedule.
• Conduct field safety audits and understand Corporate Safety Manual requirements.

Description

The General Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to a particular construction discipline work area.

Travel Requirements: Must be willing and able to travel to assigned project site locations as required. Per diem will be provided for eligible travel assignments in accordance with company policy.

Essential Functions

• Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
• Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
• Plans and supervises work activities. Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
• Oversee all precision of rotating and static equipment.
• Coordinates assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
• Maintains liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
• Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
• Maintains communication with the HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
• Monitors craft compliance with project safety program requirements. Documents and ensures corrective measures are implemented.
• Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
• Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
• Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years' experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years' experience supervising craft employees.
• 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
• Ability to supervise large groups.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
