Job summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a General Services Assistant to join our team. The role includes weekend clinic coverage and duties ranging from patient assistance to receiving and facilities support.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work across multiple operational areas. Bilingual Spanish and English is preferred.

The UNMCCC is seeking a General Services Assistant to join our team. This position includes weekend clinic coverage. Duties include:

• Providing outstanding, compassionate customer service to patients.
• Assisting with patient transport, valet support, directional assistance, and patient navigation.
• Performing courier services and deliveries for requisitioning departments.
• Supporting office and furniture moves and small operational projects.
• Maintaining facility and grounds cleanliness, including snow removal and equipment operation.
• Evaluating facility/physical plant issues and assigning work orders.
• Performing receiving duties—verifying incoming shipments, documenting deliveries, inspecting materials, and coordinating distribution.
• Cross training across multiple operational areas, including transport, courier operations, receiving, and facility support to ensure efficient coverage.

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of customer service or patient transport experience in a healthcare environment.
• Bilingual Spanish and English.
• Proficiency with Windows, MS Office, and Maintenance Management Systems.
• Shipping & Receiving experience.
• Demonstrated experience in receiving operations, including documentation and material organization.
• Experience in positions requiring cross training and operational flexibility.

Additional Requirements
