Job summary

PNW Automotive in Astoria is looking for a General Service Technician to start with general automotive knowledge and grow into more advanced repair work. The role centers on precise vehicle inspections and documenting findings to support the shop, front office, and customers.

Responsibilities include oil/filter services, fluid checks, tire pressures, vehicle movement, lift positioning, and assisting technicians. The position offers a path for skill growth in a busy independent shop.

PNW Automotive in Astoria is hiring a General Service Technician. It's an early-career position with room to grow, but it is not a start-from-zero job. You must come in with general automotive knowledge, and we'll build on it from there.

The heart of the job: inspections

The most important thing you'll do here is inspect vehicles, precisely and thoroughly. Every car that comes through the shop gets a complete technical inspection, and the technicians, the front office, and the customer all rely on what you find.

That means following the same process on every vehicle, knowing what you're looking at, taking clear photos, and documenting exactly what you see. A good inspection catches problems before they leave a customer stranded. A sloppy one misses them. This is why automotive knowledge is a requirement: you can't flag what you don't recognize.

The rest of the job

• Completing oil and filter services
• Checking and correcting fluid levels and tire pressures
• Safely driving and moving customer vehicles
• Properly positioning and racking vehicles on lifts
• Helping technicians with basic tasks
• Keeping vehicles, bays, tools, and shared areas clean and organized
• Helping the front office with vehicle flow, keys, parts, and customer shuttles

What we prefer

Schedule

Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch. That's a consistent four-day week and a three-day weekend, every week.
