Northeastern Music Programs in the Greater Philadelphia Region is seeking a passionate general music teacher for a part-time, 3-day-a-week role in Northeast Philadelphia, PA. The position serves PreK-8 students and focuses on engaging music instruction with chorus rehearsals and student performances.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education, current teaching certification, and maintains all required clearances.

Description

Northeastern Music Programs, a PA-based company owned by Menchey Music Service, provides instrumental and classroom music programs to private and parochial schools, grades PreK-8, in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

We have an immediate need for a passionate and dynamic general music teacher (grades K - 8) for a part-time, 3 day per week teaching position in Northeast Philadelphia, PA.

Core Responsibilities

• No additional school duties, coverage, or extra responsibilities. At Northeastern Music Programs, we eliminate all the "other stuff" so you can focus on teaching!
• Weekly chorus rehearsals
• Administrative duties inherent to a general music teaching position,
• Coordinate a minimum of 2 student performances per year (Christmas and Spring)

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education
• Current valid teaching certificate
• Proof of the acquisition and maintenance of all required clearances

Additional Duties

• Provide academic and goal-based learning experiences that enhance student progress
• Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
• Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests
• Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
• Create a positive environment to ensure successful learning for all students
• Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic concerns
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, school policies, and administrative regulations
• Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic issues or special academic interests
• Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of company and school
• Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress
• Administer assessments and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need
• Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families and staff
