Job summary

Follett Higher Education is seeking a Department Manager General Merchandise to lead the GM department, supervise staff, and drive sales initiatives in a large campus store. You will coordinate promotions with Home Office, assist customers, manage returns, and ensure excellent service.

The role requires 3–5 years of retail supervisory experience, a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of retail supervisory experience; computer literacy.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Previous supervisory/management experience is required.
• General computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises department employees, including assigning/evaluating work and hiring/training new staff.
• Manages RTV receiving and scanning processes.
• Assists customers in finding products and manages special orders.
• Partners to ensure a hassle-free customer service culture and exceptional experience.
• Builds partnerships for promotions and events and supports off-site sales opportunities.
• Performs store walkthroughs to monitor stock, placement, and service levels.
• Oversees in-store merchandise displays and liaises with planning.
• Executes markups/markdowns, analyzes financials, processes POs and invoices.
• Supports promotions, inventory levels, and website maintenance as needed.
