Genki Diner in Honolulu, HI is seeking a General Manager to lead our restaurant. This hands-on hospitality leadership role focuses on building a strong team, delivering outstanding guest experiences, and achieving profitable operations.

You will recruit, train, and develop staff, set standards for service, manage schedules, and drive sales while controlling costs. The position requires ownership, accountability, and a commitment to a high‑quality dining experience.

Qualifications

• Experienced restaurant manager or hospitality leader.
• Natural leader who leads by example.
• Business-minded and comfortable managing sales, labor, and food costs.
• Excellent communicator and problem solver.
• Passionate about developing people.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable.
• Fluent in English; Japanese bilingual ability is preferred.
• Experienced with ramen operations — a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop team members.
• Build a diverse, collaborative, and high-performing team.
• Create schedules, assign roles, and manage daily staffing needs.
• Coach employees and conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews.
• Address performance and disciplinary matters in partnership with HR.
• Develop team members and future leaders.
• Set the standard for exceptional hospitality.
• Engage directly with guests and actively seek feedback.
• Ensure service standards are consistently followed.
• Respond professionally to guest concerns and implement solutions.
• Drive excellent Quality, Service & Cleanliness (QSC) standards.
• Set and achieve sales and profitability goals.
• Manage labor and cost of goods within budget.
• Oversee FOH and BOH operations.
• Monitor opening, closing, workstation, and sanitation procedures.
• Manage supplies, utilities, uniforms, and other operating expenses.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, OSHA, and applicable regulations.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are understood and followed.
• Lead the team through operational and organizational changes.
