Planet Fitness in Columbia, SC is seeking a General Manager to lead staff and deliver a superior Judgement Free member experience. You will oversee scheduling, coaching, and daily operations to meet membership and sales goals, while maintaining safety and cleanliness across the club.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, prior management experience, CPR/AED certification, and a willingness to travel for training. Strong leadership, communication, and a passion for fitness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–3 months related experience.
• Prior management or supervisor experience preferred.
• Willing to become CPR/AED certified.
• Willing to oversee staff and 24-hour facility operations.
• Background check required.
• Willing to travel for training and to support other locations.
• Customer service background preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Superior problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and diplomacy skills.
• Must complete ASM Reading List and PFU Leadership courses.
• Passion for fitness and health.
• Upbeat, positive attitude.
• Punctuality and reliability required.
• Strong listening and empathy skills.

• Must be 18+.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staffing schedules to ensure shifts are covered.
• Train and coach staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Lead team to achieve sales and membership goals.
• Assist in preparation of HR forms.
• Resolve employee and member issues professionally.
• Provide 24/7 backup support for absent staff.
• Act as a brand ambassador for a Judgement Free Zone.
• Coach staff through daily operations and training.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and recruiting.
• Handle membership sign-ups, data updates, cancellations, and payments.
• Prospect member calls and tours to assess needs.
• Delegate cleaning and sanitizing of facilities.
• Perform regular club area walk-throughs and address safety issues.
• Address maintenance and facility concerns promptly.
• Oversee club supplies ordering within budget.
• Track KPIs like signups, guest counts, cancellations, and inquiries.
• Support marketing promotions and staff training on campaigns.
• Support info-call inspections.
